About

About this blog
Plants stretch toward the sun, they lean, they reach. All things gravitate towards what they need, what is good.

In words and pictures these are all of the things that I lean towards: voracious reading (mostly), container gardening (must have nice surroundings for all the reading), and crafting.
I’d rather think of this blog as a place of reflection and a record of things instead of a review. The impetus (sparked by many conversations) has been the fact that when someone asks me about a book I sometimes get the stories mixed up or can’t remember some great detail. This blog will hopefully fix that.

About me
20-something momma to a 3 year old puppy dog, daughter, finger nail biter, oh and I love books (really!)
Books have geeked me out for as long as I can remember. I actively seek books written by women. I’ve been turned on to feminist science fiction, Persephone books, and Virago. This has managed to bring out the collector/hoarder in me. When not reading this stuff I enjoy literary and historical fiction, books on social commentary particularly gender, race and class issues. I’m also rediscovering works that I loved as a kid and other children’s and YA books that I missed.

Your doggy is too cute. I have found that blogging is a great way to reinforce my reading so that I do remember details, characters, plots, etc. better instead of just remembering the way I felt about the book. I try to treat my blog as a journal of my reading, so often my ‘reviews’ don’t resemble a traditional book review…the posts are a way for me to remember what I have read. I hope your blog is all that you hope it to be and more…but just a word of warning…your wishlist and library will grow exponentially:)

    Hello,
I have just discovered your blog and I feel that we share a LOT of interests & tastes.
I am passionate about women writers, the question of gender & English literary fiction. I will definitely come back here and read your articles with pleasure.
