Knitting the Sheep Hat

I saw this in 60 Quick Baby Knits and had to make it. How can you not love this cute little sheep. Luckily I have a co-worker who just had a baby. Cutest gift ever!

This was a very quick knit and the yarn (Ewe Ewe Wooly Worsted) was lovely. Very soft and squishy. It starts with the grass and works through the body. Next I made the face, ears, and tail. I sewed those on and added eyes using a bit of leftover black yarn. I think I want one for myself!

Sewing Simplicity 4236

Posts this week will be devoted to some of the things I missed discussing during my blog absence.

This skirt was the first garment I have made for myself. Mom went with me to select fabric and pattern over the Independence Day Holiday and we spent that evening and into the night sewing, laughing, and talking.

There were a lot of skills to learn in this pattern. Apparently the ad “made easy” doesn’t exactly mean easy enough for a beginner. There was a set-in zipper, a waistband, tape for the hem and serged seems.

In future I will keep track of the fabric amounts and notes on construction and pattern reading. All in all I love this skirt and already have another project lined up!

Finished Objects

Finishing a project is always great, but finishing three projects is even better…

A cotton baby sweater for a wonderful co-worker who is expecting. The buttons are little blue snails with big smiles

A baby blanket for another co-worker whose wife is expecting this summer. I just have to add some ribbon as a trim along the scalloped edge.

And a beret for yet another co-worker. This is the top view as it’s being blocked into correct form…on a plate.

Now it’s on to something for me, A cute pullover and a shawl. And of course summer reading soon to come.
